Softball Recap: Providence's Win on Friday Extends Winning Streak to Three

Providence entered their tilt with Butler on Friday with two consecutive wins , and they'll enter their next game with three. Everything went their way against the Butler Bulldogs as they made off with a 13-3 win. For the Panthers, this counts as revenge for the 17-14 victory the Bulldogs walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2024.

Averie Jones spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on 11 hits. That's the fewest earned runs she has allowed since back in April of 2024.

On the hitting side, Emerson McAllister was a standout: she went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Sophie Strugar, who went 2-for-5 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.

Providence was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .395. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .321 or higher in four consecutive games.

Providence's record is now 5-1. As for Butler, their loss dropped their record down to 1-4.

Looking ahead, Providence will be playing at home against Myers Park at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Myers Park will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each contest than the last. As for Butler, they will head out to face off against East Mecklenburg at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
