Softball Recap: Lockhart Lions vs. Leander Lions

Lockhart had lost four straight on the road, but on Friday they dropped their record down to 4-17 to make it five. They lost 12-2 to Leander. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against Leander this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 10-0 back in March.

Presli Moebes made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and fired off two home runs while going 2-for-2.

As for Leander, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-9 record this season. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 13 contests by six runs or more this season.

On Leander's side, Kylee Arnold was a major factor no matter where she played. She struck out 13 batters over six innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits (and not a single walk). Those 13 strikeouts gave Arnold a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

In other batting news, Leander got a massive performance out of Avery Barnard, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most hits Barnard has posted since back in April of 2024. Madelyn Lee was another key player, going 3-for-5 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

Lockhart wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 4-0 loss against Rouse on the 15th. As for Leander, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, an 8-1 win against Glenn on the 15th.
