Powers dropped their record down to 5-2 on Tuesday, which also ended the team's four-game streak of wins. They came up short against the Toledo Boomers, falling 12-5. For Toledo's part, Kealey Coxen spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and one unearned) runs on ten hits and racked up ten Ks. With that strong performance, Coxen is now averaging an impressive 5.2 strikeouts per game.
On the hitting side, Toledo let Gracee Retherford and Lindsey Otis run wild. Retherford went 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, three RBI, and one run, while Otis went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Those three RBI gave Retherford a new career-high. Faith Retherford was another key player, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double.
