Recap: Hi-Plains Patriots vs. Arickaree Bison
The Hi-Plains Patriots's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fifth straight loss. The game between Hi-Plains and Arickaree wasn't particularly close, with Hi-Plains falling 58-42. While losing is never fun, Hi-Plains can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 298th, while Arickaree is ranked 129th).
Several Patriots players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Bex Seaman, who scored 13 points along with six rebounds and two steals. Seaman is absolutely dominating the steal category: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Aiden Cordell, who scored 18 points along with two steals.
Hi-Plains struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only four offensive rebounds. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Arickaree pulled down 18 offensive rebounds.
Arickaree's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from AUSTIN WRIGHT, who scored 14 points along with six rebounds and three blocks. Another player making a difference was JAKE KING, who scored 13 points along with five steals.
Hi-Plains' defeat was their fourth straight at home, which bumped their record down to 1-7. As for Arickaree, their win bumped their record up to 9-1.
Hi-Plains won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Kit Carson at 4:00 p.m. on January 13th. Hopefully Kit Carson focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 14 on Friday. Arickaree won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Flagler at 4:30 p.m. on January 13th. Flagler has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
