It's playoff time, and Richmond had no trouble coming through when it counted. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Goodrich Martians a 6-0 shutout on Tuesday. The result was nothing new for the Blue Devils, who have now won nine matches by six runs or more so far this season.

The win (which was Richmond's fifth in a row) raised their record to 19-6. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.2 runs on average over those games. As for Goodrich, with the defeat, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 30-10-1.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Richmond beat the Martians by a score of 6-0 later that day.
