Football Recap: Westside Skates Past Wren with Ease + How To Watch

Westside extended their postseason success on Friday against Wren. They took their contest with ease, bagging a 55-20 win over the Hurricanes. The result was nothing new for the Rams, who have now won six matchups by 27 points or more so far this season.

Westside's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Keylan Powell, who rushed for 137 yards and three TDs while picking up 7.6 yards per carry. The Rams are 6-1 when Powell posts 100 or more rushing yards, but 2-3 otherwise. Jae White also helped out with an impressive 110 receiving yards.

Westside didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Kwon Simpkins and Jacob Lewis. Another thorn in Wren's side was Christian Webb-Scott, who picked up a sack and made 11 total tackles (2.0 for loss).

Despite the loss, Wren saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Jacob Owings threw for 238 yards and a pair of touchdowns, and also rushed for 37 yards and one score.

Westside pushed their record up to 8-4 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 48.6 points over those games. As for Wren, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-4.

Looking ahead, Westside will square off against Camden at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The two teams might be coming in a bit winded given these two teams combined for 1,000 yards in their previous games. Wren does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
