Basketball Recap: Dixon Skates Past South Lenoir with Ease

While Dixon didn't have the best season last year (they finished 5-16), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat the South Lenoir Blue Devils 55-15. The Bulldogs have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three contests by 27 points or more this season.

Dixon found their leader in sophomore Lily Borden, who posted 18 points along with five rebounds and five steals. Leah Parker was another key player, putting up six points in addition to nine boards and three blocks.

Dixon smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 23 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in 13 consecutive games dating back to last season.

Dixon's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-1. The home wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 28.8 points on average over those games. As for South Lenoir, they are on a nine-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Dixon will face off against Topsail at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for South Lenoir, they will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Kinston at 5:30 p.m. on the 16th.
