Baseball Game Preview: Whitesboro Bearcats vs. Sulphur Bulldogs

The Whitesboro Bearcats will be taking part in a tournament against the Sulphur Bulldogs at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.

While Whitesboro's victory against Ardmore wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. Whitesboro's pitchers stepped up to hand Ardmore a 1-0 shutout on Thursday. The win continues a trend for the Bearcats in their matchups with the Tigers: they've now won four in a row.

Meanwhile, Sulphur put another one in the bag on Thursday to keep their perfect season alive. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 9-8 W against Callisburg. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Bulldogs have posted since March 19, 2024.

Cash Matlack was incredible, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 3-for-3. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in doubles (two). Another player making a difference was Briar Davenport, who scored two runs and stole Two bases.

Sulphur's win bumped their record up to 3-0. As for Whitesboro, their victory bumped their record up to 2-6.
