Softball Recap: Clovis Wildcats vs. Hobbs Eagles
Clovis extended their losing streak to 15 on Tuesday, dropping them down to 3-21. They came up short against the Hobbs Eagles, falling 13-2. Unfortunately, that's the fourth time they've come up short against the Eagles this season, with their most recent loss being a 12-0 defeat on Tuesday.
Clovis saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jazlynn Chavez- Marin, who went 1-for-2 with one run.
As for Hobbs, their win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 17-7. Considering they have won 13 contests by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
On Hobbs' side, Karyssa Sigala made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Sigala has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs and one RBI. Those three runs gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Jaquelynn Fuentez was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. That home run marked the first that she has launched this season. Mariah Zambrano was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.
