Baseball Recap: Doyline Gets the Win

The home team had won the previous three meetings between Doyline and Castor, and Doyline kept the tradition alive. The Panthers skirted past the Tigers 10-9. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Panthers have posted against the Tigers since April 15, 2022.

Taylor Cox made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over five innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Doyline is 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 2-5 otherwise. Cox was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. That double marked the first that he has hit this season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on James Dodge, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double. He is becoming a predictor of Doyline's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 1-6 when he doesn't). Zach Mosely was another key player, going 1-for-4 with two runs and one double.

Doyline's victory bumped their record up to 4-6. As for Castor, with the loss, they broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 4-2.
