Soccer Game Preview: Libertyville vs. Palatine

The Libertyville Wildcats will take on the Palatine Pirates at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Libertyville will be looking to extend their current seven-game winning streak.

Libertyville is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. Their defense stepped up to hand Zion-Benton an 8-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for Libertyville, who have now won nine matchups by three goals or more so far this season.

Their offense was hitting Zion-Benton from everywhere, as five different players booted in a goal. Isabella Yarc led that balanced group of strikers and accounted for three goals all by herself.

Meanwhile, after low-scoring totals in their previous three game, Palatine brought some dynamite into their most recent contest. They were the clear victors by a 4-0 margin over Prospect on Tuesday. The victory was some much needed relief for Palatine as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

Libertyville pushed their record up to 15-1-3 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 31 goals over those four matches. As for Palatine, their win bumped their record up to 9-6-2.

Libertyville took their victory against Palatine in their previous meeting back in May of 2022 by a conclusive 8-0 score. Will the Wildcats repeat their success, or do the Pirates have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
