2A Tri-Peaks recap October 1, 2013
Fans got a thrill when Draven Adame and Payden Breneman connected against Trinidad. The connection went for 60 yards, the longest such play in 2A Tri-Peaks this season.
Adding to the longest winning streak in the league this week, Lamar beat the Miners 21-7. The win marks fifth in a row for the the Savages.
Connor Rosenoff was a key player and the best on defense this week as St. Mary's fell to Alamosa. He.
Zach Hoxie was a passing and rushing force as Florence fell to Manitou Springs. He completed 8 passes for 115 yards and also ran for 144 yards. Hoxie's key target this week was Dennis Donley, who caught 3 passes for 57 yards.
Hayden Smith put up the best numbers through the air as the Pirates lost to the Maroons. He finished with 12 completions for 111 yards. Smith's favorite target this week was Patrick Telck, who caught 8 passes for 54 yards.
Alamosa's Marco Garcia and Bailey Garcia have formed a dream team this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Garcia has thrown for 770 yards this season, while Garcia has 21 catches for 481 yards. The Huskies' Hoxie leads the league in rushing yards with 737.
Fans will be thrilled by an exciting game in the secondary when Tom Newland's team's Garcia goes up against Trinidad's Amilio Arguello.
Next week's game between the Maroons and John Huitt's team will feature an aerial matchup as Garcia tests his arm against Arguello's defensive ability.
