Basketball Game Preview: Woodlawn-B.R. Panthers vs. Mt. Carmel Cubs

The Woodlawn-B.R. Panthers will face off against the Mt. Carmel Cubs on Monday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Woodlawn-B.R. comes in on 14 and Mt. Carmel on three.

Woodlawn-B.R. is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Louisiana's top teams: Zachary, who was ranked sixth at the time (Woodlawn-B.R. was ranked ninth). Woodlawn-B.R. walked away with a 71-63 win over Zachary last Friday.

Meanwhile, it can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Mt. Carmel had no problem doing just that on Thursday. They beat the Hurricanes by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 32-24.

Woodlawn-B.R.'s victory was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 26-6. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.7 points over those games. As for Mt. Carmel, their win bumped their record up to 18-12.

Woodlawn-B.R. came up short against Mt. Carmel when the teams last played back in December of 2022, falling 44-31. Can Woodlawn-B.R. avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
