Senior guard led Cody to Class 4A state semifinals.

Each year since 2006, MaxPreps has recognized outstanding performers in prep girls basketball. America's source for high school sports continues the tradition to close out the 2023-24 season by naming the top player in each state. Selections are based on team success and individual excellence in addition to local and state accolades.

Molly Hays of Cody is the 2023-24 Wyoming MaxPreps Player of the Year for the second straight year. The 5-foot-8 senior guard led the Fillies to a 22-3 record and Class 4A state semifinals.

For the season, Hays averaged 22.7 points, 5.6 rebounds, 5.3 steals and 2.5 assists per game. She is a four-time Wyoming Coaches Association Class 4A All-State selection and finished with 1,689 points, good for 16th on the state's career scoring list.

Cody is 71-4 over the past three seasons with a state title in 2023 and a runner-up finish in 2022.

Also a soccer and volleyball standout, Hays committed to play for Idaho State in June 2023.

Each state's MaxPreps Player of the Year will be considered for inclusion in the MaxPreps All-America Team, which is scheduled to be released April 11. Past selections include 2023 WNBA Most Valuable Player Breanna Stewart (2012) as well as 2023 All-WNBA first team picks Napheesa Collier (2015), Alyssa Thomas (2010) and A'ja Wilson (2014).
