Football Recap: Shelton Skates Past Newman International Academy with Ease

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Shelton). They blew past the Newman International Academy Warriors 49-14 on Friday. The victory continues a trend for the Chargers in their matchups with the Warriors: they've now won four in a row.

Shelton's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Max Boul, who rushed for 148 yards and three TDs while picking up 7.8 yards per carry. Those 148 rushing yards gave Boul a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Owen Myers, who rushed for 69 yards and three scores on only five carries.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Shelton was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 362 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.

Shelton's victory bumped their record up to 2-3. As for Newman International Academy, they are on a five-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-4.

Shelton will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on McKinney Christian Academy at 7:00 p.m. on October 10. The Chargers will need to watch out since the Mustangs have now posted at least 31 points in their last three games. As for Newman International Academy, they will challenge Trinity Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Warriors will be up against the Eagles' rather soft defense (which has allowed 34.25 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
