Basketball Recap: Trevan Crane's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Yreka over University Prep

Yreka lost against University Prep back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Yreka Miners took a 74-65 hit to the loss column at the hands of the University Prep Panthers. While losing is never fun, the Miners can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 872nd, while the Panthers are ranked 295th).

Several Miners players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Trevan Crane, who posted 21 points. Another player making a difference was Skyler McLane, who put up 14 points.

Yreka has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-15 record this season. As for University Prep, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 18-7.

Yreka will square off against West Valley at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Yreka is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 56 points per game this season. As for University Prep, they will take on Lassen at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. The timing is sure in University Prep's favor as the squad sits on 12 straight wins at home (dating back to last season) while Lassen has been banged up by eight consecutive losses on the road.
