Softball Recap: Bureau Valley Comes Up Short

Bureau Valley was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 4-3 heartbreaker at the hands of the Annawan-Wethersfield Titans. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Storm of the 11-3 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2025.

Bureau Valley saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kayden Haage, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one run. Avery Bopes also deserves some recognition as she scored her first run of the season.

Bureau Valley's defeat dropped their record down to 7-13. As for Annawan-Wethersfield, their win bumped their record up to 10-12.

While Bureau Valley had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair will be back at it again later today.
