Preview: Incline Highlanders vs. Battle Mountain Longhorns
Incline has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will challenge The Battle Mountain Longhorns at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Last Thursday, Incline never let their opponents score. They breezed by North Tahoe at home to the tune of 41-0. The score at the end of the third wound up being the final score as Incline just coasted through the last quarter.
Incline's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Tommy Williams, who only threw for 24 passing yards and failed to score a touchdown, and Kyler Thompson, who rushed for 100 yards and a touchdown on only seven carries. Colin Combs got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Meanwhile, after only seven points in their last match, Battle Mountain made sure to put some points up on the board against West Wendover on Thursday. Battle Mountain took their game at home with ease, bagging a 42-6 victory over West Wendover.
Incline's victory bumped their record up to 6-2. As for Battle Mountain, their win was their fourth straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 6-3.
Incline came up short against Battle Mountain when the teams last played back in September, falling 26-14. Can Incline avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
