Softball Game Preview: Augusta Panthers vs. Bellevue Tigers

The Augusta Panthers will square off against the Bellevue Tigers at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. Augusta comes in still looking for their first win of the season.

Augusta is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They took a 22-19 hit to the loss column at the hands of Holmes on Friday.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Bellevue took on Newport on Thursday. The Tigers never let the Wildcats get on the board and left with a 24-0 win. That 24 run margin sets a new team best for the Tigers this season.

Paulina Long made a splash while hitting and pitching. She pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Long was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with three runs and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ginny Meece, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with four runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Zariah Bedford, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with three RBI and one run.

Bellevue was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .435. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Augusta's loss dropped their record down to 0-10. As for Bellevue, their record is now 4-6.
