Softball Recap: Marple Newtown Makes It Five in a Row at Home

Marple Newtown hadn't done well against Haverford recently (they were 0-6 in their previous six matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Fightin' Tigers walked away with a 13-8 win over the Fords. This was a revenge game for the Fightin' Tigers: when they faced off against the Fords back in April, they had to take a 2-0 defeat.

Marple Newtown pushed their record up to 18-2 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.4 runs over those games. As for Haverford, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 17-5-1.

Coming up, Marple Newtown will welcome Owen J. Roberts at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. The Wildcats' pitching crew has only allowed 2.2 runs per game this season, so the Fightin' Tigers' hitters will have their work cut out for them. Haverford does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
