Wortham had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9.8 runs) and they went ahead and made it six on Wednesday. They never let the Cayuga Wildcats get on the board and left with a 15-0 win. The Bulldogs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine contests by ten runs or more this season.
Katelynn Spain was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. Spain was even better at the plate, going 3-for-4 with four runs, four RBI, and one triple. That's the most runs she has posted since back in February.
In other batting news, Maggie Downey was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. She has been hot recently, having posted three or more hits the last three times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Aleah Allen, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs and one stolen base.
Wortham kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They are 7-1 when they post 11 or more hits.
Wortham's victory bumped their record up to 15-10. As for Cayuga, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-18.
Wortham does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Cayuga, they will be playing at home against Beckville at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
