The Noblesville Millers will challenge the Brownsburg Bulldogs at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Noblesville is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Indiana's top teams: Yorktown, who was ranked 23rd at the time (Noblesville was ranked 11th). The Millers were the clear victors by a 9-1 margin over the Tigers on Monday.
Addison Retzinger spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on four hits and racked up nine Ks.
At the plate, Noblesville let Addi Emmerson and Haley Schatko run wild. Emmerson went 2-for-4 with one home run and three RBI, while Schatko went 3-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. That's the most hits Emmerson has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Maggie Kern, who went 2-for-3 with one home run.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Noblesville kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. They are a perfect 10-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Brownsburg never got on the board in their matchup on Friday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Lawrence North on Monday. They put the hurt on the Wildcats with a sharp 10-2 win.
Avery Toole looked comfortable as she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over four innings pitched.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Bailey Paddock, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Ashley Slyvia, who went 2-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.
Noblesville is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-6 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Brownsburg, their win bumped their record up to 13-8.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Tuesday. Noblesville hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 1 home runs per game. However, it's not like Brownsburg struggles in that department as they've been averaging 0.6 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
