Football Recap: Asheville Cougars vs. Crest Chargers
Asheville played a tough game on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They had to suffer through a 55-12 loss at the hands of the Crest Chargers. While losing is never fun, the Cougars can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina football rankings (they are ranked 78th, while the Chargers are ranked 17th).
Despite the defeat, Asheville saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Clement Davidson rushed for 115 yards and one TD. Davidson got the majority of those rushing yards when he took off on a run that went for an incredible 62 yards.
Crest's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jason Black led the charge by rushing for 59 yards and one touchdown. Michael Edwards also helped with two scores in total.
Asheville now has a losing record of 1-2. As for Crest, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 3-0.
Asheville didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, a 39-21 win against Asheville School (Independent) on the 12th. As for Crest, they have also already played their next contest, a 31-10 loss against Weddington on the 12th.
