Basketball Game Preview: Fullerton Warriors vs. Central City Bison

The Fullerton Warriors will venture away from home to face off against the Central City Bison at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Fullerton is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They were the clear victor by a 59-34 margin over Newman Grove/St. Edward on Tuesday. The Warriors pushed the score to 42-21 by the end of the third, a deficit the Panthers had little chance of recovering from.

Meanwhile, Central City had already won 12 in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 28.7 points) and they went ahead and made it 13 on Thursday. They put the hurt on the Vikings with a sharp 68-48 victory. Given the Bison's advantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 39th, while the Vikings are ranked 149th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Central City found their leader in sophomore Sydni Homolka, who posted 19 points. Another player making a difference was Payton Burbach, who scored 13 points.

Central City's win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 21-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.8 points over those games. As for Fullerton, their victory bumped their record up to 8-13.

Fullerton was taken down by Central City 46-15 in their previous matchup back in February of 2024. Can Fullerton avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
