Recap: Newton-Conover Red Devils vs. West Lincoln Rebels
The Newton-Conover Red Devils were the 71-38 winner over the West Lincoln Rebels when they last played one another back in January of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Newton-Conover fell 40-28 to West Lincoln on Friday. Newton-Conover has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Despite the loss, Newton-Conover had strong showings from Sara Sain, who scored four points along with seven rebounds and two blocks, and Hadleigh Swagger, who scored 11 points along with two steals. That's the first time this season that Swagger grabbed two or more steals.
Newton-Conover has fallen quite a ways from their 25-5 record last season and are now at 3-11. As for West Lincoln, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 5-9 record this season.
Newton-Conover's road trip will continue as they head out to face Bandys at 6:30 p.m. on January 16th. Hopefully Bandys focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 26 on Friday. As for West Lincoln, their homestand continues as they prepare to take on West Caldwell at 6:00 p.m. on January 16th. West Caldwell and West Lincoln are at an even 4-4 over their past eight head-to-heads.
