Volleyball Recap: Jefferson Area Starts Season with Victory Against Lakeview

Jefferson Area had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They walked away with a 3-1 win over the Lakeview Bulldogs on Thursday. Surprisingly, this marked the Falcons' fourth straight game in which the away team has come away the victor.

The victory didn't come easy: Lakeview scored at least 19 points in every set. The match finished with set scores of 25-19, 28-26, 18-25, 25-22.

Despite the loss, Lakeview saw an underclassman step up: freshman Cece DeToro had 33 assists and seven digs. Those 33 assists set a new season-high mark for DeToro. The team also got some help courtesy of Rylee Barnot, who had 27 digs.

Lakeview is on a five-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-4.

Coming up, Jefferson Area will face off against Howland at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Lakeview, they will be playing in front of their home fans against McDonald at 12:15 p.m. on Saturday.
