Baseball Recap: Nelsonville-York Takes a Loss

After flying high against Federal Hocking on Wednesday, Nelsonville-York came back down to earth. The Buckeyes fell 9-6 to the Miller Falcons on Thursday. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Falcons this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 6-5 back in March.

Dallas Snider was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. He struck out eight batters over 5.1 innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off nine hits. That's the fewest earned runs he has allowed since back in March. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Logan Meeks was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. He has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last seven times he's played. Levi Snedden was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one stolen base and one run.

Nelsonville-York's loss dropped their record down to 4-10. As for Miller, the win got them back to even at 6-6.

Looking ahead, Nelsonville-York will look to defend their home field on Monday against River Valley at 5:00 p.m. As for Miller, they will head out to challenge Fairfield Christian Academy at 5:15 p.m. on Friday.
