Basketball Preview: Augusta Southeastern Suns vs. Illini West Chargers
Augusta Southeastern and the Chargers are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2018, but not for long. The Augusta Southeastern Suns are on the road again on Saturday and plays the Illini West Chargers at 6:30 p.m. on February 3rd.
Last Tuesday, things could have been worse for Augusta Southeastern, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 47-30 loss to the Hornets.
Meanwhile, Illini West scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. Everything went their way against West Prairie as Illini West made off with a 61-36 victory. The victory was familiar territory for Illini West who now have four in a row.
It was another big night for Colby Robertson, who scored 12 points along with two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Ethan Carlisle, who scored nine points.
Augusta Southeastern has traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-11 record this season. As for Illini West, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 15-9 record this season.
Augusta Southeastern and the Chargers were neck-and-neck when the teams last played back in December of 2023, but the Suns came up empty-handed after a 36-35 defeat. Can Augusta Southeastern avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
