Softball Recap: Lincoln's Win on Monday Extends Winning Streak to Five

Lincoln entered their tilt with El Cajon Valley on Monday with four consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with five. They put the hurt on the Braves with a sharp 22-2 victory. The result was nothing new for the Hornets, who have now won 11 contests by eight runs or more so far this season.

Ashly Pineda was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. Pineda was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with three RBI and one run.

In other batting news, Nyema Curtis was a standout: she got on base in five of her seven plate appearances with four runs, one double, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Leyahniah Paleafei, who went 3-for-4 with three runs and three doubles.

Lincoln kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 14 hits in five consecutive matches.

Lincoln now has a winning record of 12-11. As for El Cajon Valley, their loss was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-13.

Lincoln has already played their next game, a 22-6 win against Hoover on the 7th. As for El Cajon Valley, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 21-11 defeat against Monte Vista on the 7th.
