Basketball Recap: Wahoo Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Claire Emerson and Gretchen Seagren

Wahoo fought the good fight in their overtime matchup against Malcolm on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell 50-42 to the Malcolm Clippers. The Warriors were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Clippers earlier this season, when they won 39-31.

Wahoo's loss came despite strong showings from Gretchen Seagren and Claire Emerson. Seagren shot 4-for-7 from deep and dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten boards, while Emerson went 5 of 7 en route to 16 points. The dominant performance also gave Seagren a new career-high in three-point shooting accuracy (57%).

Malcolm found their leader in freshman Payton Dolliver, who posted 20 points and six rebounds. Dolliver has been hot, having also posted two or more steals the last five times she's played. Kenna Wilcox was another key player, putting up eight points.

Wahoo's defeat dropped their record down to 11-8. As for Malcolm, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 11-9.

Wahoo has already played their next contest, a 30-25 win against Crete on the 6th. As for Malcolm, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 56-55 loss against Yutan on the 8th.
