Football Recap: Bellaire Piles Up the Points Against South Houston

Bellaire was handed a heart-breaking three-point loss in their last contest, but they sure didn't let that happen against South Houston on Thursday. The Cardinals simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Trojans 36-0. That's more bragging rights for the Cardinals, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Bellaire's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jake Brasington, who picked up 56 receiving yards and a pair of scores. Bishop Jones was in the mix too, providing the Cardinals with one touchdown.

Another reason for the win was Bellaire's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for four sacks. Marshall Smith refused to say out of the backfield, picking up 1.5 sacks all by himself. Bellaire received some extra help from Jones, whose fumble return for a touchdown made for one of the most unforgettable moments.

The win got Bellaire back to even at 1-1. As for South Houston, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.

Bellaire didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 42-14 victory against Pasadena on the 12th. As for South Houston, they will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Sam Rayburn at 7:00 p.m. on the 19th. The game will give the Trojans their first taste of in-conference action this season.
