Baseball Recap: River Ridge Timberwolves vs. Pecatonica Vikings
After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Iowa-Grant, River Ridge was happy to have turned things around on Monday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Pecatonica Vikings 6-5. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 10-4 back in April.

Cael Koenig and Carter Copsey made a splash no matter where they played. Throwing, Koenig struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. Meanwhile, Copsey tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He also tossed no walks, which is notable because River Ridge is 5-1 when he allows at most two walks, but 2-3 otherwise. At bat, Koenig went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double, while Copsey went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases and three runs. Those three stolen bases gave Copsey a new career-high.
In other batting news, Andrew Nies was excellent, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
River Ridge has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-4 record this season. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of one runs across that stretch. As for Pecatonica, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-7.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. River Ridge will challenge Potosi/Cassville at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Pecatonica, they will square off against Highland at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
