Basketball Game Preview: Langston Hughes Panthers vs. Lanier Longhorns

The Langston Hughes Panthers will face off against the Lanier Longhorns on Saturday. One thing working in Langston Hughes' favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last 11 games.

Langston Hughes is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Wednesday. They claimed a resounding 81-29 victory over Shiloh. Given the Panthers' advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 39th, while the Generals are ranked 216th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Lanier, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Friday. They had just enough and edged out Woodstock 66-63.

Langston Hughes has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 14 of their last 15 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 22-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.7 points over those games. Lanier's win bumped their record up to 14-15.

Langston Hughes couldn't quite finish off Lanier in their previous matchup back in February of 2020 and fell 58-55. Can Langston Hughes avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
