Softball Recap: Muir Gets the Win

Muir saw some tournament action on Saturday. They came out on top against the San Fernando Tigers by a score of 8-4.

Gigi Butler made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run over six innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with two RBI and one run.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jaslene Hernandez, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. That triple marked the first that she has hit this season. Another player making a difference was Sidney Sims, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base.

Muir was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .407. They are 7-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Muir's victory bumped their record up to 9-4. As for San Fernando, they moved to 7-6 with that loss, which also ended their four-game winning streak.

Coincidentally, Muir and San Fernando will both be playing Poly the next time they take the field. The Mustangs will head out to face the Parrots at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, while the Tigers will head out to face them at 3:30 p.m. on April 8.
