Baseball Recap: Frazee Starts Season with Victory at Home

Frazee took care of business in their home opener (barely) on Thursday. They skirted past the Park Rapids Panthers 10-9. The Hornets haven't had any issues with the Panthers recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.

Asher Blaine was a major factor no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single hit and allowed only two earned runs while striking out 12 over 4.1 innings pitched. Blaine was also stellar in the batter's box, going 4-for-5 with two stolen bases, one triple, and one run. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Adam Vigen, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances. Those two runs gave him a new career-high. Chandler Ullrich was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base.

Park Rapids' defeat was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-2.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Frazee is headed away from home for the first time to challenge New York Mills at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Park Rapids, they will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Pelican Rapids at 4:00 p.m. on the 22nd.
