Basketball Recap: Mercy Prep Academy Comes Up Short

Mercy Prep Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their eighth straight defeat. They were a single point away from ending the streak, but they lost a 29-28 heartbreaker at the hands of St. Mary. While the Royals didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating St. Mary's 13-7 in the first quarter.

Several Royals players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Kyra Stuart, who posted eight points along with six boards and three steals. Myra Nelsen was another key player, putting up five points in addition to eight rebounds and three steals.

Even though they lost, Mercy Prep Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 21 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive boards in 12 consecutive games.

Mercy Prep Academy's loss dropped their record down to 2-13. As for St. Mary's, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 7-5.

As of now, neither Mercy Prep Academy nor St. Mary's have any future games scheduled.
