Basketball Recap: Columbia Takes a Loss

Columbia lost against La Grange last Friday and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Columbia Roughnecks fell 60-48 to the La Grange Leopards. The Roughnecks have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead La Grange to victory, but perhaps none more so than Brandon Mathis, who dropped a double-double on ten points and ten boards. Mathis has been hot recently, having also posted two or more blocks the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Oliver Gunn, who dropped a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds.

Columbia's loss dropped their record down to 6-9. As for La Grange, their record now sits at 10-4.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Columbia and Brazosport will compete for holiday cheer at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Columbia is facing Brazosport at the right time seeing as Brazosport is stuck on a three-game losing streak. La Grange will take on Lexington in a holiday battle at at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. La Grange is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 56.3 points per game this season.
