Football Recap: Hermitage's Undefeated Season over After Three Games

After soaring to 62 points the game before, Hermitage was a bit more limited in their matchup on Friday. They lost 33-10 to the Varina Blue Devils. The Panthers haven't had much luck with the Blue Devils recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.

When it comes to explaining why Hermitage lost, don't look at Avery Curtis. Despite the final result, he rushed for 108 yards, and also picked up 45 receiving yards and one touchdown. Curtis showed off some serious burst, turning on the afterburners on one carry for 54 yards.

Having lost for the first time this season, Hermitage fell to 2-1. As for Varina, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-1.

Hermitage and Varina should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Virginia Rankings. The Panthers will face off against Deep Run at 7:00 p.m. on Friday with a big rank advantage (32 vs. 227). Meanwhile, Varina (ranked seventh) will meet Henrico (ranked 170th) at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
