Basketball Recap: Gibson County Comes Up Short

Gibson County lost against Peabody back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Gibson County Pioneers took a hard 75-59 fall against the Peabody Golden Tide. While losing is never fun, the Pioneers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 221st, while the Golden Tide are ranked 62nd).

When it comes to explaining why Gibson County lost, don't look at Kylan Finch. Despite the final result, he posted 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Isaiah Deberry, who had ten points.

Gibson County has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 11-12 record this season. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.0 points per game. As for Peabody, their record now sits at 15-4.

Gibson County wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 62-47 victory against Milan on the 28th. Peabody has also already played their next contest (against Ripley), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
