Basketball Game Preview: Teays Valley Vikings vs. Lancaster Golden Gales

Teays Valley is preparing for their first conference matchup of the season on Friday. They will host the Lancaster Golden Gales at 7:30 p.m. Lancaster took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Teays Valley, who comes in off a win.

Teays Valley is headed into the contest after thoroughly thrashing Central Crossing: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Vikings blew the Comets out of the water with a 62-17 final score. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 33-8.

Tessa Horsley had a dynamite game, dropping a double-double with 12 points and ten boards. Areyana Karshner was another key player, putting up nine points and seven rebounds.

Meanwhile, Lancaster ended up a good deal behind Newark on Tuesday and lost 63-49. The defeat continues a trend for the Golden Gales in their meetings with the Wildcats: they've now lost three in a row.

Teays Valley has started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 51 points this season. As for Lancaster, their loss dropped their record down to 0-2.

Teays Valley couldn't quite get it done against Lancaster in their previous meeting back in January as they fell 49-42. Can the Vikings avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
