Baseball Recap: Borah Wins Going Away Against Boise

The matchup between Borah and Boise on Thursday hardly resembled the 3-0 effort from their previous meeting. Borah blew past Boise 14-7. The victory continues a trend for the Lions in their matchups with the Brave: they've now won three in a row.

Tate Kubena made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over 3.2 innings while giving up just two earned (and five unearned) runs off three hits. Kubena was even better at the plate, scoring four runs and stealing a base while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. Those four runs gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Brady Robinson and Carson McCarney did most of the damage at the plate: Robinson scored three runs and stole three bases while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances, while McCarney scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in all five of his plate appearances. That's the most runs Robinson has posted since back in April of 2024. Colton Dennis was another key player, scoring two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Borah always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .571. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Boise only posted an OBP of .378.

The win got Borah back to even at 1-1. As for Boise, their defeat dropped their record down to an identical 1-1.

Borah wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, an 11-1 loss against Bishop Kelly on the 15th. As for Boise, they have also already played their next game, a 7-4 victory against Caldwell on the 14th.
