Basketball Game Preview: Frontier Falcons vs. Pioneer Panthers

Frontier hasn't had much luck against Pioneer recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Frontier Falcons will head out to square off against the Pioneer Panthers at 7:30 p.m.

Frontier is headed into Thursday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fifth straight game on Tuesday. They were dealt a 56-17 defeat at the hands of Twin Lakes. The Falcons were already down big by the end of the third quarter and they stayed that way after failing to score in the fourth.

Meanwhile, Pioneer came tearing into Saturday's contest with seven straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 18.4 points) and they left with even more momentum. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 49-47 victory over the Hornets.

Frontier's loss dropped their record down to 1-13. As for Pioneer, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten games, which provided a massive bump to their 9-7 record this season.

Frontier opened the new year with a less-than-successful 52-39 defeat to Pioneer. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Pioneer's Makenna Strycker, who went 9 for 15 on her way to 22 points and eight rebounds. Now that Frontier knows the damage she can cause, will they be able to stop her this time? There's only one way to find out.
