Football Game Preview: Moody Bearcats vs. Thorndale Bulldogs

The Moody Bearcats will take on the Thorndale Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Moody will bounce into Thursday's game after beating Marlin, who they had gone 0-3 against in their three prior meetings. The Bearcats took down the Bulldogs 22-7 on Friday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Bearcats.

A big part of Moody's win came down to the chemistry between Lee Womack and his top target Caleb Stinson. Womack threw for 212 yards and a pair of TDs while Stinson picked up 115 receiving yards and one score. Womack's passing game has become a key predictor of Moody's success: the team is undefeated when his passer rating is 100 or higher, but only 2-4 otherwise. A healthy portion of Womack's aerial production (80 yards to be exact) also went to Hayden Stinson.

Moody didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. Ross Petree was the real danger to the passing game, picking up two interceptions all by himself.

The home team had come away the winner the last six times Thorndale and Holland had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. The Bulldogs took their contest on Friday with ease, bagging a 49-13 victory over the Hornets. The Bulldogs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five matchups by 21 points or more this season.

Moody better keep an eye on Hudson Thigpen. He was instrumental in Thorndale's win, rushing for 162 yards and four touchdowns on only nine carries. The team also got some help courtesy of Cole Harkins, who rushed for 62 yards and one score on only seven carries.

Thorndale was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 282 rushing yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Holland only rushed for 127.

Moody's record now sits at 6-4. As for Thorndale, their record is now 7-3.

Moody was taken down by Thorndale 55-0 in their previous matchup back in September of 2021. Can the Bearcats avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
