Wes Burford Delivers Best Performance of Season

On Friday, Oakdale got the W thanks in part to Wes Burford playing the best football he has all season. Burford rushed for 381 yards and six touchdowns while picking up 14.7 yards per carry, good enough to set a new career-high in rushing yards in the process. That high mark didn't come from nowhere: he has now rushed for 143 or more in the last seven games he's played dating back to last season.

The victory was the sixth in a row for Oakdale, bringing their record for this year to 6-1. Burford will try to repeat (or improve) on that dominant effort when he faces off against Central Catholic on Friday.

Sadly, Max Medina posting his best game of the season wasn't enough to lead Patterson over Oakdale on Friday. Medina wasn't messing around, throwing for 338 yards and three touchdowns while completing 72.7% of his passes, and also punching in a touchdown on the ground. The contest was his third straight with three or more passing touchdowns dating back to last season.

For the season, Medina has thrown 22 touchdowns while averaging 273.5 passing yards per game. It gets even more impressive: after eight games last season, he had two rushing touchdowns. This year he is already up to four.
