Soccer Recap: Portal Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

Portal lost to Metter back in January of 2023, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Tuesday. The Portal Panthers put the hurt on the Metter Tigers with a sharp 5-2 win. Fans of the Panthers have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 3+ goals.

They hit Metter with a four-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Colby Stewart (2), Maggie Brannen, Olivia Brown, and Hilda Reyes.

The victory was the third in a row for Portal, bringing their record for this year to 3-0. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 22 goals over those three contests. As for Metter, their defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 1-4.

Coming up, a feisty cat fight will be fought as the Portal take on the Claxton at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Portal knows how to get goals on the board -- the squad has finished with four goals or more in their past three games -- so hopefully Claxton likes a good challenge. As for Metter, they will take on McIntosh County Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
