St. John has gone 9-1 against St. Mary's Ryken recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Wednesday. The Cadets will head out to challenge the Knights at 4:30 p.m. St. John's pitching crew has only allowed 2.1 runs per game this season, so St. Mary's Ryken's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

St. John's is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another highly-ranked state team: Paul VI, who was ranked 19th in their home state at the time (St. John's was ranked first). The Cadets' pitchers stepped up to hand the Panthers a 4-0 shutout on Tuesday. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last six times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Meanwhile, St. Mary's Ryken waltzed into their game on Tuesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They walked away with a 5-0 win over the Mustangs.

The result came thanks to Chase Harkness's shutout, as he gave up just six hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Austin Michael, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-4. Lucas Sigafoose also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

St. John's pushed their record up to 12-1 with the victory, which was their 19th straight at home dating back to last season. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.9 runs on average over those games. As for St. Mary's Ryken, their victory bumped their record up to 7-4.

St. John's skirted past St. Mary's Ryken 8-7 when the teams last played back in April of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Cadets since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
