Baseball Game Preview: Santiago Sharks vs. Corona Panthers

For the second straight game, Santiago will face off against Corona. The Sharks will venture away from home to face off against the Panthers at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Santiago 3.6, Corona 1.1) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Santiago's usually-dominant pitching crew will be looking to make up for Tuesday's struggle, when Corona hitters got past them. The Sharks lost 10-1 to the Panthers on Tuesday. The loss continues a trend for the Sharks in their meetings with the Panthers: they've now lost six in a row.

For Corona's part, the team relied heavily on Joshua Sur, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two doubles and one RBI. Those three hits gave Sur a new career-high. Trey Ebel was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three RBI.

Corona was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .424. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive games.

Corona's win was their 12th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 19-1. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.5 runs over those games. As for Santiago, their defeat dropped their record down to 13-7.
