Basketball Recap: East St. Louis Takes a Loss

East St. Louis was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were beaten by the Alton Redbirds 67-16. While losing is never fun, the Flyers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 340th, while the Redbirds are ranked 19th).

Asia Stringer was East St. Louis' leading scorer, having posted five points.

East St. Louis' defeat dropped their record down to 2-5. As for Alton, their win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 6-1.

East St. Louis will welcome Collinsville at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. That contest will pit two of the most dominant forwards against one another: Talesha Gilmore and Stringer. As for Alton, they will be playing at home against O'Fallon at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. O'Fallon is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 50.3 points per game this season.
