Basketball Recap: Cross Keys Comes Up Short

Cross Keys extended their losing streak to eight on Friday, dropping them down to 2-8. They were dealt a 71-32 defeat at the hands of the Fulton Science Academy Mustangs. The Phoenix were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 43-16.

As for Fulton Science Academy, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-6. The team dominated over those games too, winning by an average of 30.5 points.

Fulton Science Academy was led to victory by Julian Edney and Luke Turney. Edney shot 58% from the field en route to 26 points in addition to eight rebounds and three steals, while Turney almost dropped a double-double with 16 points and nine steals. The matchup was Edney's fourth in a row with at least 18 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Rilwan Champion, who posted three points along with ten boards and five steals.

Cross Keys will take on Academe of the Oaks in a holiday battle at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Fulton Science Academy, they will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Lakeview Academy at 1:00 p.m. on the 27th.
