Softball Recap: Irvin Comes Up Short

Irvin was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They lost 14-4 to the Young Women's STEAM Research & Preparatory Academy Warriors. If the Rockets were looking for revenge after losing 21-0 to the Warriors when the teams met back in April of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Kimberly De La Torre was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. She also put up an RBI, which was her first of the season.

Irvin's loss dropped their record down to 3-13. As for Young Women's STEAM Research & Preparatory Academy, the victory got them back to even at 2-2.

Looking ahead, Irvin will be playing in front of their home fans against Riverside at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Irvin will need to watch out since Riverside has now posted at least ten runs in their last four games. As for Young Women's STEAM Research & Preparatory Academy, they are taking a road trip to square off against Austin at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
